● Practice the techniques in order, make them continuous, start from the Yellow belt, and practice them equally
● Once the critical distance breaks, change your eye gaze/focus to the solar plexus and clench your teeth; critical distance is where you can reach the opponent
● When a person is performing two actions at the same time, detail can be lost; you can complete two similar actions at the same time if they are the same motion
● If you do not separate basics, details will be lost - practice those basics
● Do not exaggerate blocks in that there is more than one strike in a fight, and you will lose ground on the next block and leave yourself exposed
● You block a punch because you cannot name the attack; left/ right punch. If you can name the attack ‘right punch, etc.,’ then you strike first
● Law of Angular momentum; speed up by bringing your limbs in, slow by extending
● Remember, the techniques are one; all the techniques are one! The only reason they have names is that we need to communicate with one another
● Speed blocking (vertical block) we do not flex the muscles like an extended block
The two greatest downfalls in fighting:
1) Stating you were not ready – being ready is the willingness to fight. When something is coming toward a vital area, there is an instinct to run. The desire to fight is critical to make self-defence techniques work. If a person backs up, they missed the most straightforward attack to step in and block
2) Not following up appropriately
